Hiking Trails and Waterfalls Exploration – Estate and Surroundings

The Estate TrailI is an approximately 5km walk through the heart of the property, winding through tea gardens, forested paths, scenic viewpoints, hidden streams , waterfalls and bathing spots. This leisurely hike is ideal for those wishing to experience the beauty of the estate while learning about its pristine rich biodiversity, flora, and tea-growing heritage. For the more adventurous, two extended wilderness Trails II & III of approximately 12–14 km each follow separate routes generally along the boundary of the Sri Pada Peak Wilderness Sanctuary. These immersive hikes venture deeper into the surrounding environments, where guests may encounter cascading waterfalls, endemic birdlife, native wildlife, spectacular panoramic viewpoints and local villages.
The striking contrast between meticulously cultivated tea estates and the untouched wilderness creates an unforgettable journey through one of Sri Lanka’s most ecologically significant landscapes. Guided by a local Tamil Achchi (grandmother), guests will discover the art of preparin g traditional hoppers and rotti using time honored recipes passed down through generations.
Set amidst the peaceful surroundings of our estate garden, this hands-on experience begins with an introduction to locally grown ingredients and traditional cooking methods. As the aromas of authentic Sri Lankan cooking fill the air, enjoy meaningful conversations and gain insight into the culture, traditions, and daily life of the local estate community.
